Would you like to have an edge over other students when you graduate? SIFE can give you that edge!
SIFE is a global, non-profit organization that is literally changing the world through highly dedicated student teams on more than 1800 university campuses in 40 countries. SIFE was started by corporate America in 1975 as a way to offer college students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, project management and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
SIFE has existed on the BYU Hawai‘i campus since 1997. Our students come from all across campus and from all academic majors, from computer science to psychology, to international business, to biology, and everything in between.
SIFE teams teach important concepts through educational outreach projects, including market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, and business ethics to better themselves, their communities and their countries. Each spring, SIFE teams from across the country and around the world come together for regional, national and international competitions. The pressure is on for the teams as they present their high-powered 24-minute presentations detailing what they have accomplished during that academic year.
Our BYU Hawai‘i SIFE teams have been named regional finalists each year since we were organized and competed in each of the national competitions as well. We have been among the top 40 teams in the US during the past two years. This year BYU Hawai‘i SIFE is a finalist (one of 20) in the market economics category as well.
In their efforts to make a difference, SIFE students have been described as teachers, mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs; but the people whose lives have been changed by their work call them heroes. BYU Hawai‘i SIFE is truly having a great influence on our community, impacting this community by making a difference one person at a time. I invite you to join this wonderful group of student leaders with whom I have the privilege of serving-- and you too can develop the edge for which employers are seeking!
