Accounting Major 2007-2008

The Discipline:

Accounting is known as the language of business. The Accounting degree will prepare studentes for positions in public accounting, private business, or for graduate study in accounting, administration, or business programs. The program is designed to develop communication skills and to enhance the student's ability to analyze and solve prolems usinf various technologies in a dynamic accounting and business enviroment.

Career opportunities

The curriculum provides students with a broad business background and the opportunity to recieve training in a wide variety of accounting areas including financial and managerial accounting, auditing, information systems, international accounting, and taxation.


Major and Minor Requirements:

The accounting major must complete ACCT 201 and 203 with a B- or better. Transfer students must also complete at least four upper-level accounting courses while at BYUH.


Business Core

The following courses must be completed to take most 300-level and 400-level business classes. Students must maintain a 2.00 average in these courses with at least a C- grade or better. Accounting majors must receive a B- or better in Accounting 201 and 203, and a C- or better in ECON 200, 201, and Math 221 No more than two Business Core classes may be repeated. Required SCOB classes can only be repeated one time. Below is a worksheet that maybe use to plan and track your acheivements:
